Marine Superintendent

Job Responsibilities

Marine Superintendent shall report to the Section Head of the Marine Department (MRD) and shall have the responsibilities to:


  • Promote and adhere to the company's HSEQ policies.

  • Manage and support vessel operation efficiency, navigational practices and cargo handling.

  • Plan and ensure safe cargo and ballast transfer practices, navigational and mooring standards.

  • Daily communication with Charterers, vessels, Owners and other stakeholders on Marine-related matters.

  • Manage and support marine casualties as per IMS and investigate navigational, cargo and mooring operational issues.

  • Carry out ship-shore compatibility and monitor terminal regulations.

  • Conduct Marine Audits including Sailing Navigation Audit, Cargo Audit, Mooring Audit and VDR Audit.

  • Carry out Marine risk assessments and vessel visits as per USMS.

  • Develop and monitor Marine KPIs for Management review.

  • Prepare and manage Opex budget related to Marine matters.

  • Participate in TMSA, MTMSA, DoC, Green Award and other External Office Audits.

  • Manage LMP, MSMP and Mooring related tasks for MEG 4 compliance.

  • Provide feedback on Masters and Chief Officers' performance upon request.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on Navigation, Cargo and Mooring activities.

Job Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Master Certificate of Competency.

  • Minimum 2 years of sailing experience at management level (Deck) on ocean-going vessels.

  • Experience on LNG vessels or completion of LNG SIGTTO operational/management course preferred.

  • Good understanding of cargo handling equipment, cargo containment systems and vessel propulsion.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with cultural awareness.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Organised, self-motivated with good time management skills.

  • Leadership skills with ability to motivate and develop people.
