Operations Superintendent
What's the role
The Commercial Operator is responsible for overseeing post-fixture operations for vessels predominantly engaged in trade between India and the Arabian Gulf (AG). We are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about operational management, adept at optimizing efficiency, and capable of assisting and advising vessels on their operational requirements.
In this role, the Commercial Operator plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day vessel operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of commercial activities. Working closely with the operations team, the role involves continuous monitoring of vessel performance and compliance with charter party terms, as well as maintaining close oversight of vessel communications, with timely follow-up and corrective actions where necessary.
As instructed by the team lead, the role may also involve visiting vessels to assess structural condition, visual standards, and operational readiness, handling operational contingencies, and supporting the collection of data to safeguard the owners’ interests in chartering disputes or claims. In addition, the role requires continuous follow-up on vessel maintenance and scheduled work plan with detailed scheduled works.

Post-fixture operation of Tankers/Gas/Chemical Carriers
-
Monitoring and Analyzing daily Noon Report received from the vessels
-
Preparing vessel’s performance report as per charterer’s requirement
-
Ensure vessels performance as per CP terms and advise vessels accordingly
-
Selection and appointment of agents
-
Liaising with charterer/broker/agent
-
Communicating with terminals for getting vessels acceptance
-
Instructing vessels for the voyage and speed as per voyage instruction and/or subsequent
-
Instructions received from charterer, if any
-
Providing documents (viz Gas form C, Q88, terminal questionnaire etc) to terminals for vessels acceptance
-
Successful vessel acceptance at terminals based on correct documentation
-
Incident and stoppage reporting and resolution rate
-
Timely and complete vessel performance and technical reports shared with DGM Operations
-
Quality of stakeholder and terminal coordination and feedback
-
Effective handling of claims and invoice settlement
-
Ability to calculate and invoice charterers for payment of freight on behalf of owners
-
Ability to check the daily noon report and carry out Performance monitoring.

Should be able to carry out full post-fixture and accounting

Should be able to carry out full voyage results reporting and analysis

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Stay updated with recent applicable regulations

Proficient in MSOffice and other IT platforms to monitor vessel activities

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Efficiently perform under pressure and coordinate activities as required

Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science

Marine Engineering, or related maritime qualification
-
Certificate of Competency (Chief Officer with Master License)

Minimum 2-3 years relevant shore-based experience in technical/operations management for gas/LPG vessels
-
Prior sea-going experience as Chief Officer or Master on LNG/LPG vessels
-
Detailed knowledge of operational/technical practices, charter party compliance, and performance reporting
-
Experience in managing vessel documentation, bunker optimization, and technical troubleshooting
-
Candidates having commercial shipping experience and/or knowledge will be given preference
-
Background in incident investigation, claims management, and cost control in shipping operations
