Technical Superintendent

Job Responsibilities

Technical superintendent shall report to Fleet Manager and shall have the responsibilities to:


  • Promote and adhere to the company's HSEQ policies.

  • Manage day-to-day technical operation and performance of assigned vessels to ensure that applicable requirements to safety, quality, efficiency, and environmental performance are met.

  • Monitor and evaluate the maintenance standard on board, including reporting and execution of breakdown/defect maintenance.

  • Management of incidents and accidents, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.

  • Marine casualty management as per IMS.

  • Develop, monitor and control running cost budgets to meet goals and KPI's.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory, Class and other third-party requirements.

  • Supervise and report repairs and modifications, including insurance repairs.

  • Manage all phases of the dry-docking process from initial planning to completion.

  • Arrangement of spares, stores, lubricants, paints etc. for vessels.

  • Ensure that all activities, also by third parties engaged, comply with set HSEQ standards.

  • Visit assigned vessels regularly and submit relevant reports.

  • Co-ordination of activities between vessels and office.

  • Appraisal of crew on board for the vessel in charge.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must hold Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency.

  • Sailing experience of 2 years or more at management level (preferably Chief Engineer) on board ship.

  • Sailing experience of at least 2 years on LNG vessels. OR minimum 2 years of superintendent experience handling LNG vessels.

  • Good understanding of Dual Fuel Engines, LNG Cargo containment and handling system.

  • Good communication and inter-personal skills, with cultural awareness.

  • Good analytical skills/assessment ability.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Have a holistic perspective, without losing attention to details.
